The W Reports™
Predicting the price of a stock is difficult, if not impossible. But predicting the performance of a company is very possible, provided you know the same things that their CEO knows: how well the company is meeting customer expectations in comparison to their direct rivals. Armed with this data, you can forecast their performance with greater accuracy to gain an edge as an investor, consultant, marketer or executive.
Unlike any other market or stock research firm, the wRatings data measures how well a company is meeting their customer's expectations across nine sources of competitive advantage. Each source is a barrier to entry that prevents rivals from taking customers away, and are proven leading indicators to generating sustainable economic profit. Borrowing a term from investor Warren Buffett, we refer to each source as a "moat." Just like castles of the past needed protection, companies today must find ways to protect their customers and their profits from rivals.
We blend each company's customer ratings (from our Consumer Panel) with their historical economic profit to publish a competitive strength score, what we call a W Score™. Companies with competitive strengths (a high W Score) are more likely to grow revenue, earn a profit and generate predictable results. Companies with little competitive strength (a low W Score) are likely to earn less profits as they fall into price competition with rivals.
In this section, we spotlight companies that tend to be the most active in the financial press. The charts are from the company's W Report™, which are available online for purchase or included as part of a premium subscription. Sample W Reports™ are available that contain definitions and interpretations of each chart.
